Youth and Sports Minister, Azalina Othman Said, was quick to react. Via NSTP,
"If 15 Ministers are too many, then can you tell me what is the correct number of people to sit on a Cabinet committee?" quipped Azalina. Is she playing politics? Giving the elders a chance to have a say or will this initiative get caught up in the bureacratic red tape of expanded government?
My opinion is that instead of adding to the people responsible for overseeing sports, we should be reducing. Digging deeper into the article, Azalina even states the solution that I would support.
"I must stress, that what is more important is the drawing up of a paper on strategic planning for sport. Before this, the Sports Ministry alone was unable to make changes.
Ahh, that seems to be the problem. A Sports Ministry that wasn't allowed to make changes on their own. Now please tell me how adding a committee with 15 ministers to the mix is going to help? Anyone? Bueller?
