Via the NSTP, Lim Keng Yaik (Ministry of Energy, Water, and Communications) has said that his ministry is investigating whether influential blogger, Jeff Ooi will have action taken against him.
"I have asked my officials to see what action can be taken," he saidPlease allow me a couple of "Mat Salleh Observations". #1. If the ministry has to INVESTIGATE whether action can be taken it's probably better not to take action. What I mean is if it's not that clear cut of a case, why take action? If it is such a big issue and what Jeff Ooi did was so bad, why the need to investigate? It should be a no-brainer. #2. Don't we also have our Science, Technology and Information ministry? Is the web not Technology? Just who is the person who should take the lead here? Couldn't the Information Ministry also be involved? I have been living here for 3 years and still have no idea who has jurisdiction over what.
UPDATE: Even menj jumps in the fray.
